The Pakistani government has allocated a sum of PKR 3.0975 billion (USD 11.2 million) for various agriculture and livestock uplift projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2023-24. This allocation comes as part of the total budget of PKR 8.85 billion (USD 32 million) earmarked for these crucial sectors.
Utilization of Funds
According to an official statement from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the allocated funds were released during the first six months of the current financial year (July-December). The primary focus of these funds is to facilitate the completion of ongoing development schemes and initiate new projects deemed vital for the economic development of the country.
Out of the total funds released, an amount of PKR 429.97 million (USD 1.56 million) has already been spent on various development schemes within the specified time frame.
A substantial portion of the allocated funds, specifically PKR 8.6 billion (USD 31.1 million), is earmarked for the completion of 21 ongoing developmental projects. PKR 440 million (USD 1.6 million) has been specifically earmarked for pilot shrimp farming cluster development.
