Concerns have arisen regarding the export of Honduran shrimp to the Mexican market. Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina has clarified that while there is a judicial case in progress, the export of Honduran shrimp to Mexico is not yet lost.
A Judicial Challenge
Foreign Minister Reina emphasized that the challenges facing Honduran shrimp exports to Mexico are primarily due to a legal dispute initiated by a shrimp company in Sinaloa, Mexico. This company has filed an appeal in court, leading to concerns about the future of shrimp exports between the two nations.
Coordinated Efforts
Foreign Minister Reina has assured the public that the Honduran government is taking proactive steps to resolve this matter. They are in close coordination with the Minister of Economic Development, Fredis Cerrato. A meeting is scheduled for this Thursday between Minister Cerrato and shrimp farmers to discuss the issue further.
Diplomatic Engagement
In the spirit of maintaining amicable relations, Honduran authorities are actively engaged in discussions with Mexico. Despite the legal challenges, both countries aim to find a mutually beneficial resolution to the situation. Honduras views Mexico as a friendly country and is committed to addressing the concerns raised by the legal dispute.
