Laitram Machinery, a pioneer in shrimp peeling technology, has announced its acquisition of Martak’s shrimp peeling business line.
More than seventy years ago, JM Lapeyre revolutionized the shrimp business with the introduction of the first automatic peeling machines. This innovation laid the foundation for Laitram Machinery, which has since emerged as a leading producer of processing systems catering to the broader food industry. With a relentless commitment to innovation and quality, Laitram has continuously evolved, shaping the trajectory of shrimp processing technology.
Uniting Leading Operations: The Acquisition of Martak
The acquisition of Martak’s shrimp peeling business assets represents an alignment aimed at maximizing operational efficiencies and enhancing customer service.
Commenting on the acquisition, James Lapeyre, President of Laitram Machinery, expressed optimism about the synergies created by this strategic partnership. “We believe that by joining these leading operations, both companies can focus on their respective core competencies, and the resultant combination will provide the scale and resources that will better serve our customer base in the years to come.”
Martak’s Transition and Integration
With the acquisition, Martak will exit the shrimp peeler manufacturing and services business, redirecting its focus to other initiatives. However, the Martak team will play a pivotal role in the integration process, bringing with them over forty years of invaluable experience and know-how.
Noel Sheehan, CEO of Martak, emphasized the positive impact of this collaboration on the shrimp processing market. “This combination will bring renewed innovation and efficiency for our mutual customers in the shrimp processing market, along with a commitment to the highest standards of reliability and service.”
