President Nicolás Maduro recently highlighted the nation’s commitment to expanding its fishing and aquaculture sectors, with shrimp being one of the top-demanded products.
Shrimp Leads the Way in Venezuelan Exports
Among the marine species with the greatest demand, shrimp stands out. President Maduro emphasized that Venezuela’s seafood products are now available in 24 countries, showcasing the international appeal and quality of the nation’s marine offerings.
A prime example of Venezuela’s success in seafood exports is Cumaná Sea Food CA. Located in the state of Sucre, this company has established itself as a leader in processing fresh fish and converting them into premium frozen products for discerning international markets.
Impressive Export Statistics
Cumaná Sea Food has achieved remarkable export figures, with an export rate of 70%. This translates to over 280 tons of seafood being shipped abroad, as reported by Jhonny Acosta, the manager of the processing plant. The facility currently produces 30 tons of seafood daily and boasts a storage capacity of 70 tons.
The processing plant at Cumaná Sea Food handles a variety of species, including snappers, roaches, octopus, curvinas, hake, baldric, snook, sleeperfish, lobsters, and notably, shrimp. The production from this plant is exported to numerous countries, including the United States, Türkiye, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and several Asian nations.
