Vietnam’s trade surplus in agroforestry and aquaculture products has experienced a 62.4% year-on-year growth in the first half of the year. According to official statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, foreign sales of these products reached USD 29.2 billion, while imports amounted to USD 20.92 billion, resulting in a surplus of USD 8.28 billion.
Shrimp Leads the Way
The aquaculture sector played a significant role in this growth, with shrimp exports reaching USD 1.43 billion.
While shrimp stood out as a major contributor to the country’s trade surplus, other products also performed well. Wood and wood products led the way with USD 6.16 billion in exports, followed by coffee (USD 3.14 billion), fruits and vegetables (USD 2.42 billion), rice (USD 2.31 billion), and cashew nuts (USD 1.1 billion).
