A delegation from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) recently concluded its visit to Guatemala. The visit aimed to learn about the national controls of the inspection system in the fishing products sector, with a focus on shrimp.
Inspection System Process
During their visit, MAPA delegates Gabriela Marín and Cássia Costa gained insight into the safety, production, and distribution processes of shrimp in various processing plants. This information will be compiled into a report and submitted to Brazilian authorities within the next 30 days. The report will provide crucial insights into the Guatemalan shrimp export process, paving the way for potential exports to Brazil.
The visit was deemed historic by Vice Minister of Agricultural Health and Regulations, Marissa Montepeque, who described it as a new opportunity for commercial rapprochement between Guatemala and Brazil.
Gratitude and Appreciation
The Brazilian delegation expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food in Guatemala for their attention, provision of information, documents, and tours. These efforts enabled the delegation to gain a deeper understanding of the shrimp export process and will aid in their pursuit of the common objective: better exports from Guatemala to Brazil.
