Central Java, Indonesia, has sent off a consignment of 20 tons of frozen shrimp to Melbourne, Australia. This event marks the province’s first-ever shipment of frozen shrimp to Australia.
A Positive Boost to Export-Import Climate
The acting governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, proudly flagged off the export consignment during a ceremony held at PT Sumber Samudera Indonesia’s warehouse in Semarang, Central Java. In his remarks, Sudjana emphasized the importance of this achievement for the province’s export-import climate.
Sudjana also highlighted the wealth of marine resources in Central Java, underscoring their positive impact on meeting the community’s food and nutritional needs. Central Java’s abundant and diverse marine resources have positioned the province as a potential hub for the export of fisheries and marine commodities.
Growth in Export Performance
The province’s dedication to fisheries and marine products has yielded impressive results. In 2023, Central Java’s export volume of fishery and marine products reached approximately 78,800 tons, with a total value of IDR 4.32 trillion (USD 272.92 million). This marked a 23.57 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Central Java’s 2023 export market was diversified, with the ten main export destinations being China, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Thailand. The key export commodities included Portunidae meat, squid, shrimp, and largehead hairtail fish.
