Thai shrimp and feed producer Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP Foods) has proudly announced that 584 of its products have attained Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) certification, bestowed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).
Catering to Consumer Concerns
Among the 584 certified products, CP Foods has placed significant emphasis on its livestock feed offerings, with a total of 523 items receiving certification. This category encompasses a variety of feeds including swine feed (HiGro 591) and chicken feed (HiProWhite 510), alongside feed corn sourced sustainably.
Moreover, 40 products within the shrimp supply chain, spanning from shrimp feed to shrimp wonton soup, have also received the coveted Carbon Footprint label. Additionally, CP Foods has secured certification for 20 duck products and a ready-to-eat chicken product under the Kitchen Joy brand.
Carbon Footprint Certification
The Carbon Footprint certification evaluates the greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product across its entire lifecycle – from raw material procurement to packaging disposal and transportation.
Since 2009, the company has been adhering to globally recognized standards such as ISO 14040, ISO 14044, and ISO 14067. With 880 products now bearing the Carbon Footprint label.
Future Endeavors
Plans are underway to include processed pork products under the U Farm brand in the certification list for 2024. Furthermore, the company aims to extend the Carbon Footprint label to additional ready-to-eat products, further bolstering its commitment to offering environmentally conscious choices to consumers.
