Biloxi Police in Mississippi, United States, have arrested Charles David Veal, a 79-year-old Gulfport resident and former executive director of the American Shrimp Processors Association. Veal stands accused of embezzling more than $3 million from the organization.
The arrest, which took place on Thursday, resulted from an investigation prompted by the American Shrimp Processing Association’s report. The association brought to light Veal’s alleged actions, claiming that he had abused his position of trust by transferring funds from the nonprofit’s bank account into his personal account. This misappropriation of funds is suspected to have occurred over a prolonged period, spanning from 2016 to 2022.
Charged with felony embezzlement, Veal now faces legal consequences for his actions. The arrest warrant was issued by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain, marking a significant development in the case.
