Fuel Tech, Inc., a renowned leader in combustion optimization, emissions control, and water treatment, has unveiled groundbreaking findings in shrimp aquaculture through its innovative DGI Dissolved Gas Infusion technology.
Triumph in Trial: Elevating Shrimp Production
In collaboration with Royal Caridea, Fuel Tech orchestrated a successful trial at a shrimp farming facility in Arizona, USA, showcasing the remarkable potential of DGI technology. By maintaining high dissolved oxygen (DO) levels without the need for traditional bubble aeration, the trial demonstrated stellar survival and growth rates among shrimp, with an average weight of 42g achieved within approximately 100 days.
The DGI system, equipped with a patented gas transfer process, achieved over 99% transfer efficiency of oxygen, indicating its efficiency and effectiveness in shrimp aquaculture. These findings, to be presented by Dr. John M. Boyle, Senior Director of Technology Development at Fuel Tech, at Aquaculture America 2024, highlight not only the significant boost in shrimp health and yields but also the sustainable approach it offers to meet the rising global demand for shrimp. Importantly, it contributes to reducing overfishing in marine environments.
Game-Changer in Shrimp Aquaculture
Fuel Tech’s DGI Dissolved Gas Infusion technology has emerged as a potential game-changer in shrimp aquaculture. By effectively maintaining dissolved oxygen levels, it not only enhances shrimp health and growth but also promises increased total production compared to traditional aeration methods.
