Next September, Utrecht will once again become the epicentre of the shrimp industry as the Global Shrimp Forum (GSF) gears up for its fourth edition in the Netherlands. Set to open for registration on March 1, 2025, this much-anticipated event aims to build on the successes of its predecessors, fostering an environment ripe for collaboration, innovation, and collective problem-solving.
Bridging Languages and Markets
To enhance inclusivity and expand its outreach, GSF 2025 will introduce simultaneous translation in Chinese and Spanish for its opening plenary and numerous breakout sessions. This strategic move not only acknowledges the importance of these markets but also underscores the forum’s commitment to a more diverse and engaged attendee base. With global seafood consumption on the rise, the need for effective dialogue in multiple languages will be vital for addressing industry challenges.
A significant focus of GSF 2025 will be on retail representation, an area deemed critical for the shrimp industry’s future sustainability. A dedicated session titled “De-risking the Seafood Supply Chain” will invite supermarket representatives to discuss pressing social and environmental concerns within their supply chains. By shining a spotlight on the intertwining nuances of retail and shrimp sourcing, the forum hopes to inspire actionable strategies that mitigate risks while enhancing transparency.
Network to Strengthen Ties
In keeping with its mission to facilitate meaningful connections, GSF 2025 will also host an exclusive networking event aimed at retail representatives and sponsors. This expanded scope of activities will invite retail buyers and corporate social responsibility (CSR) managers to forge essential relationships throughout the duration of the forum. By promoting dialogue between diverse stakeholders, the GSF aims to create synergies that will benefit the entire shrimp value chain.
The GSF team is actively seeking referrals for Chinese colleagues or retail representatives who could enhance the dynamics of the 2025 cohort. Moreover, first-time attendees may be eligible for a limited number of complimentary passes. Such initiatives foster a spirit of camaraderie and ensure that fresh perspectives are welcomed into the discussions.
