Natural Shrimp, a US-based biotechnology aquaculture company known for its Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), is capitalizing on a production increase at its Webster City facility. This surge has prompted the company to seek out and secure new commercial outlets for its premium sushi-grade shrimp.
Success in the Chicago Market
Natural Shrimp has already made a name for itself in the Chicago market, establishing a reliable customer base. These customers have shown strong interest in becoming local distribution centers to serve other markets, restaurants, and end-users in the Chicago area, further enhancing the company’s regional presence.
In response to increased production capacity, Brian Rashid, Natural Shrimp’s sales manager, has broadened his sales territories to include new commercial markets in the upper Midwest. His efforts have successfully introduced Natural Shrimp’s high-quality products to Asian markets in Minneapolis and Kansas City, as well as to groups in Tulsa. Rashid highlights the product’s quality, noting, “I am lucky to have a product that, once presented and tasted, sells itself.”
Educating New Markets
A critical component of Rashid’s strategy is educating new customers on the preservation, packaging, and sales of Natural Shrimp’s products. His focus on Asian markets, which have a higher familiarity with live seafood, has been particularly fruitful. Rashid explains, “We continue to target Asian markets that are more experienced in the sale of live seafood and whose customers trust they will provide them with the best quality.”
