In a recent series of operations carried out by the National Police of Peru, in collaboration with the Regional Production Management, authorities have confiscated over 170 kilograms of shrimp. This development occurred in the province of Castilla, where law enforcement cracked down on illegal shrimp extraction.
High Impact Operations
Alongside the shrimp seizure, approximately 100 izangas were destroyed as part of the enforcement efforts. These actions are being taken under the banner of “High Impact Operations,” designed to enforce control measures along the banks of the Majes River.
The primary objective of these “High Impact Operations” is to counteract extractive activities during the ongoing shrimp ban, which commenced on January 3 and is scheduled to conclude on March 31. The ban is implemented to protect and conserve the shrimp resource in the region.
Ongoing Enforcement
The authorities have been relentless in their control actions, ensuring strict adherence to the shrimp ban regulations. Commander Dany Gonzáles Fachin in Castilla has reported that, to date, five individuals have been apprehended for engaging in extractive activities related to river shrimp during the closed period.
