Consumers who recently purchased raw shrimp from Magasins U in France are urged to exercise caution, as the shrimp is believed to be contaminated with Vibrio vulnificus, a bacteria known for its potentially deadly consequences. Following an initial public alert on December 26, the government site Rappel Conso reiterated the warning last Friday, urging individuals who may have purchased the affected product to take immediate action.

Urgent Action Required
Consumers who have purchased this specific shrimp product are strongly advised to either destroy it or return it to the point of purchase by February 5 to receive a refund. The public is reminded not to consume the recalled shrimp, as Vibrio vulnificus has the potential to be fatal in certain cases.

Vibrio vulnificus is responsible for approximately a hundred deaths annually in the United States, with around 80,000 people infected. Known for its virulence, this bacteria is anticipated to proliferate in oceanic environments due to the effects of global warming in the years to come.
