The South Sulawesi Provincial Government in Indonesia, led by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, is implementing impactful initiatives to boost the local economy, with a focus on fishermen. The programs include distributing 100 million free fish and shrimp seeds to strengthen the aquaculture industry and constructing 68,150 Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) units for sustainable fisheries.
The government is also committed to developing salt centers and creating 900 tarpaulin ponds to expand aquaculture. These efforts align with the priorities of Acting Governor Bahtiar Baharuddin, addressing food security, inflation control, poverty, stunting, and malnutrition.
